Take an amazing tour of Cristo Redentor with us!

It is interesting to know that Cristo Redentor was inaugurated on October 12, 1931 and today is the biggest postcard in the country.

Today, the monument is one of the seven wonders of the modern world.

In addition, approximately 1 million people visit Cristo  each year. Get to know some curiosities about this wonderful postcard of ours.

Who built Cristo de Redentor?

Incredibly, the statue was built in France by Paul Landowski, a famous sculptor of the time.

According to the French, the Brazilians had no experience in creating a work of this magnitude.

Therefore, the statue was conceived here in Brazil by the engineer Heitor da Silva Costa.

In addition, the right to the image is disputed to this day by the family of Paul Landowski and by the city of Rio de Janeiro.

How much does it cost?

Obviously it wasn’t free, right? The payment was made with money from the Brazilian people and cost the equivalent of 2,500 contos de réis (R $ 9.5 million today).

Above all, the statue of liberty was much more expensive (approximately R $ 228 million).
